Just a little envy

Now it's here again.....

It comes to me every winter holiday season,- inevitable, as a duty to take inside heavy flower pots with exotic trees before the first frost.
I mean, of course, the envy, which an adult Christmas-addicted person feels to the kids, while looking through the catalogs of holiday apparel. By some strange reason, children's clothes&accessories are usually the most beautiful ones. Bright colors, festive cuts and loyalty to traditions is their ongoing features,- and the results are almost always merry,- in the real spirit of Christmas. For example,- how cute aren't these holiday pieces from Kappahl?

Adult customers, to the opposite, are definitely considered by designers to have dark personalities and a weird sense of humor. Never mind, that this is a holiday season, and clothes should help people to come into the right spirit. Many companies, which produce clothes, are afraid of making adult apparels too festive,- even for Christmas. God forbid to design something too sweet,- it would be already "retro". No, modern clothes should be either boring,- in black or grey colors, which are tiresome in big quantities even in everyday life,- especially combined with loose shapes; or, if the colors are bright,- they should be mixed in strange tasteless psychedelic combinations, like red+pink+blue+brown+mint+white+yellow,- on one sweater. And if there is a picture, it should be something "cool", like a gangster with tattoos on naked arms, but in a typical Santa's hat. It probably supposed to be funny, but it is not.

But fortunately, there are many Christmas-fans, who are good at DIY. So Pinterest is full with the pictures of charming old-fashioned sweaters, scarfs, PJs and socks, simple in their timeless beauty. Their color combinations are harmonious, joyful and relaxing: red&white, red&green, white&blue,- patterns are lovely: snowflakes, fluffy Christmas trees, kind Frosty The Snowman,- and shapes are flattering. So, let's prize amateur-designers, who make at home much more valuable pieces, than the ones produced by international industry. After all, for most of the people Christmas is about traditions, harmony and a piece of mind.
